Keeping green water dragons
Green water dragons will make good pets but be aware that they will need a large vivarium or enclosure when they become adults. These are very active reptiles that will be on the move a lot of the time trying to find a way out, if the enclosure is too small. Inevitably rubbing their snouts on the glass and causing damage that may lead to infection.
Accomodation
They require a lot of space, the minimum size of a vivarium for two adults would be 60x24x36. (Larger if possible).a smaller vivarium would be fine for juveniles. Green water dragons will require a large pool for swimming in (which should be cleaned daily if fouled in) plenty of branches for climbing and basking on, and a few flat areas covered with a suitable substrate (orchid bark is fine) available at the fish lodge.
A u.v.b light source and a basking light should be provided. Daytime temperature should be 84-88.nightime temperature 75-80 and a basking area of 90.
Mist the vivarium daily to keep humidity up; your dragons will love being misted.
Diet
Juveniles will eat small gut loaded crickets and finely chopped fruit and vegetables. Occasionally feed wax worms as a treat and small pinkie mice as it grows. Adults should be feed small mice, crickets, morio worms and chopped fruit and vegetables.
Health
Internal parasites, abscesses and respiratory infection are all health problems caused by incorrect conditions. You should seek a reptile vets advice if you think the symptoms are any of the above. A nice clean vivarium will go a long way to keeping disease to a minimum.
